NSW: Christmas motoring set to became easier

Motorists heading north from Sydney this Christmas should have an easier drive ahead
of them after the opening of extra lanes on the F3 freeway.

Work has finished on upgrading 10 kilometres of the freeway north of the Hawkesbury River.

Federal Roads Minister JIM LLOYD says the project cost $86 million.

The Roads and Traffic Authority has increased the speed limit on the upgraded section
of road from 90 to 110 kilometres per hour.

Mr LLOYD says the federal government also plans to upgrade the F3 south of the Hawkesbury
River and create a new link between the freeway and the New England Highway at Branxton.
