QLD:Shand jailed over Nuttall payment
The Crime and Misconduct Commission says the 15-month jail term given to HAROLD SHAND
sends a warning to anyone in the business community who acts corruptly.
SHAND was sentenced today after being found guilty of paying former MP GORDON NUTTALL
60-thousand dollars as a secret commission in April 2002 .. when he was Minister for Industrial
Relations.
Commission Chair MARTIN MOYNIHAN said the conviction and sentence would have a ripple-effect
on the wider community and send a strong anti-corruption message.
SHAND's sentence will be suspended after four months.
