VIC:Elderly man dies while reporting assault
An elderly man's collapsed and died at a Melbourne police station while reporting details
of an assault against him.
The 78-year-old went to the Croydon police station, in Melbourne's east, about 6pm
(AEDT) yesterday to report that he'd just been assaulted on nearby Wicklow Avenue.
He then collapsed and went into cardiac arrest.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesman says paramedics treated him for more than half an hour
before he died at the scene.
The Homicide Squad is now investigating the man's death and a post mortem is being
conducted to determine how he died.
