WA: East Timorese refugees head back home from WA
Another 140 East Timorese refugees will return to their homeland from Perth today.
A charter plane carrying 220 left Perth for Dili yesterday.
They're returning to East Timor after seeking sanctuary in a temporary safe haven at
the Leeuwin Barracks in Fremantle.
Only a handful of refugees needing medical treatment, and their families, will be allowed
to stay in Perth.
Immigration Minister PHILIP RUDDOCK says Australia has done more than any other country
to help East Timor.
He says it's time the refugees return to East Timor to start rebuilding their lives.
